Supporting One Another Locally

We stand alongside people in challenging life situations and support initiatives close to our hearts that bring closeness, hope and joy. Our aim is to be present for families, children and anyone who needs help, especially in moments when support matters most.

We stand alongside people in challenging life situations and support initiatives close to our hearts that bring closeness, hope and joy. Our aim is to be present for families, children and anyone who needs help, especially in moments when support matters most.

Where We Get Involved

We understand sustainability not only as a global responsibility but also as an obligation to the people and regions where we work. This is why we support projects that make an immediate difference and create lasting value. Among them is the ASB Wünschewagen, which fulfils unforgettable final wishes for people with severe illnesses through the dedication of volunteers. We also support Sonnenstrahl e. V., which for more than 30 years has accompanied children with cancer and their families, offering them comprehensive assistance during extremely challenging times.

The Toni Kroos Foundation is another cause that is close to our hearts. Since Toni Kroos covers all administrative costs himself, one hundred per cent of every donation goes directly to the families in need. In addition, we support the Stiftung Elternhaus, which offers parents a temporary home close to the clinic. A special initiative is our Wunschstern campaign, in which we fulfil individual Christmas wishes for children from the Märkisches Kinderdorf. In all these efforts we take responsibility in a way that is tangible, human and effective.

Project: The Wünschewagen

We support the ASB Wünschewagen because we believe that humanity is defined by action. The project gives people in the final phase of their lives unforgettable moments, whether a visit to the seaside, a trip to see family or one last journey to a meaningful place. Since 2014, volunteers have made these precious experiences possible, funded entirely by donations. With our support, we want to help ensure that many more wishes can be fulfilled and that people regain a little of their joy.

Why This Project Matters

The Wünschewagen is a unique charitable initiative that offers seriously ill people a special final journey. Trained volunteers accompany each traveller with empathy and care so they can experience another moment of happiness. Every trip is individually planned and shaped around the needs of the passengers. The focus is not on the illness but on the person and their wish. The Wünschewagen creates closeness, joy and memories that are invaluable for those affected and for their loved ones.

Project: Sonnenstrahl e. V. Dresden

Sonnenstrahl e. V. provides indispensable support for families affected by childhood cancer – and this is work we actively want to strengthen. With our contribution, we stand behind an organisation that has been supporting children, young people and their families for over three decades. A cancer diagnosis places huge emotional, organisational and financial burdens on families. Sonnenstrahl e. V. offers extensive support during this difficult time, from therapy programmes to counselling and practical help at the parent house near the clinic. Our donation reinforces this important work and sends a clear message of solidarity, compassion and social responsibility.

Why This Project Matters

Every year, around 2,200 young people in Germany receive a cancer diagnosis, a moment that abruptly changes the lives of entire families. Thanks to modern treatments, survival rates today exceed 80 per cent, yet emotional and social strains remain immense. Sonnenstrahl e. V. provides help precisely where it is needed most. Through therapy activities, counselling services, support for siblings, self-help groups and adventure camps, the organisation offers families stability and relief during and after treatment. This work strengthens them in a sustainable way, eases daily burdens and helps restore confidence during an extraordinarily difficult time.

Project: Toni Kroos Stiftung

The Toni Kroos Foundation is, for us, an outstanding example of effective engagement. Because Toni Kroos personally covers all administrative costs, every donation flows entirely into the projects and directly to the families in need. We intentionally supported the foundation on Giving Tuesday (02.12.), as Toni Kroos doubles every contribution on that day, amplifying the impact. The foundation lightens the everyday lives of families under considerable strain and creates moments of joy. With our involvement, we want to help ensure that assistance reaches those who need it most.

Why This Project Matters

The Toni Kroos Foundation plays a vital role in supporting families with seriously or chronically ill children. Since 2015, it has worked with several partner organisations to fill financial gaps, especially where therapies, aids or wishes are not covered by health insurance. It enables essential treatments, provides equipment and fulfils special wishes – sometimes even a child’s last. In doing so, the foundation gives families a measure of quality of life and moments of happiness in a period often marked by worry.

Project: Stiftung Elternhaus at the University Hospital Magdeburg

Families need a firm anchor in times of crisis. This is why we chose to support the Stiftung Elternhaus, which enables parents to stay close to their seriously ill children without worrying about accommodation or daily logistics. Our contribution helps ensure that families experience security, calm and support during difficult times. Every investment here reduces emotional strain and gives families the gift of time together. For us, it is a heartfelt priority to strengthen people when they are at their most vulnerable.

Why This Project Matters

The Stiftung Elternhaus offers families of children with cancer a refuge directly next to the clinic. With comfortable rooms, communal spaces and child-friendly areas, it creates an environment where worries can momentarily recede. Parents can exchange thoughts, recharge and share small everyday rituals with their children. The house is more than accommodation: it is a place of closeness, togetherness and stability that offers warmth and reassurance during an emotionally burdensome time and helps families remain united despite the child’s illness.

Project: Märkisches Kinderdorf e.V.

We believe in the power of a safe and loving home for children and young people, which is why we stand alongside the Märkisches Kinderdorf. As part of an employee initiative, our colleagues participate in the Wunschstern campaign: the children of the village place their wishes on our PCH Christmas tree and our employees choose a star to fulfil an individual gift. Social responsibility matters to us and through the commitment of our teams we want to help ensure that disadvantaged children gain confidence, strength and new perspectives for their lives.

Why This Project Matters

The Märkisches Kinderdorf provides a protective environment for children and young people in difficult life situations. Located on a spacious site with a village-like setting, it offers small residential groups that mirror family structures. With a range of activities spanning sport, play, therapy and experiential education, the children learn to take responsibility, build relationships and develop their abilities. The village provides safety and fosters social participation, giving each child the space to discover themselves. It offers stability, support and real opportunities for a positive future, even when their earlier lives were shaped by uncertainty.
